Mark Barber, a former civil engineer, and his wife, Allison, moved to Tangier Island, Virginia, to co-own the Muddy Toes Cafe. After a serendipitous discovery of the island and its community, they embraced a new life, operating the cafe successfully and cherishing the island’s close-knit atmosphere. Barber finds joy in the simpler, more connected lifestyle Tangier offers.

Community News: Tangier Island Celebrates Pastor Crockett’s Birthday; Parks to Teach CPR Classes
Duane Crockett, a beloved teacher and Elder at New Testament Church, celebrated his birthday. He often walks the island and shares inspirational beliefs. Christopher Parks, a TCS graduate, suggested reviving a local newsletter, “The Fisher.” Parks will also teach CPR classes at Tangier Combined School.
