TANGIER, Va. – Elizabeth Thomas led the field in the Nov. 3 Tangier Town Council election, but one of the island town’s six council seats remained undecided until all the write-in votes are counted.
Five candidates ran for the six open seats. Thomas received 131 votes, followed by Tracy Pruitt with 125, Kelly Wheatley with 120, Anna Pruitt-Parks with 116, and Tommy Eskridge III with 113.
With only five names on the ballot, the sixth seat will be determined by write-in votes. A total of 138 write-in votes were cast, according to the Eastern Shore Post. The winner of that seat had not been announced by press time.
Congrats to those who ran, certainly those elected to serve Tangier.
