Meet Miss. Wanda

Wanda Parks has been the TCS Secretary and Bookkeeper for 23 years. In the photograph above, the banner says “Miss. Wanda Rules the School.” This is not an exaggeration. She keeps students and staff straight and does it all with a cheerful smile. Without her, TCS would be lost. One of her favorite things about working in the front office is seeing each student as they start their day. She marvels at how small the Kindergarteners look on their first day of school and how much they have grown by the end of the year. Mrs. Wanda will be celebrating her 38th wedding anniversary in July with her husband James. Together, they share two daughters, Whitney and Nora. Whitney lives in Suffolk with her husband Kenny and their daughters Charlotte (7) and Lyla (4). Nora lives in Rutherfordton, NC with her husband Patrick. They have two children Ezra (7) and Lorelia (3). Some of her favorite things to do in spare time are: traveling, reading and gardening. Her very favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren who call her Mommom.
Thank You Miss Tracy

Miss. Tracy Pruitt started out her school career over 38 years ago when she began substituting straight out of highschool. She then worked as a PALS tutor for several years. During the pandemic, Miss Tracy was hired as a health assistant and has been doing that ever since. Miss. Tracy does not limit herself to the clinic. She is always helping throughout the building and volunteers her time at events and fundraisers. She loves working with children and says she learns so much from them. She was raised by educators and school holds a special place in her heart. Her father, Bryan King, taught at TCS for 35 years and her late mother, Sandra King, was an assistant for 40 years. Miss Tracy has been married to her childhood sweetheart, Richie, for 38 years and together they have one daughter, Victoria, who is a preschool teacher at Pungoteague Elementary School. We are fortunate to have such an ambitious lady on our staff.
Spring Paint Night
Spring paint night was held on May 16th. Art teacher, Miss Corinne, instructed the class with help from her art students, Emilee Parks, Lacee Evans, and Ava Marshall. The art class learned each step of the painting so that they could assist the attendees on creating their masterpieces. Miss Corinne has been holding paint nights for several years to help raise money for art supplies. This was the first time the art class has joined in leading the class and they did a terrific job!
Teachers, We Appreciate You!

TCS is a Pre-K through 12th grade school, the only one of its kind in the state of Virginia. The school has six certified teachers who all have multiple endorsements and years of experience. Classes are doubled, which means a lot of planning and hard work. The PTA honored these teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week by showering them with treats, gift cards, and handmade cards from their students.
A Night to Remember

On Friday, May 2, TCS 8-12 grades had their Prom. The cafeteria was completely transformed and included Victorian Gothic decor, a balloon arch, and even a chandelier. Students dined on a steak dinner, Smith Island cakes, and a chocolate fountain. DJ AJ kept the group entertained until midnight. Students then had an after prom scavenger hunt. All participants took home prizes that were donated by the townspeople and businesses of Tangier. The celebration ended at Lorraine’s Restaurant where the students had a full breakfast. Everyone had a blast and all of their hard work fundraising paid off.
TCS Lunch Heroes

Maureen, Patti, Sharon, and Faith keep our staff and students well fed throughout the school year. The staff came together and filled up baskets full of candy, yard decor, lotions, etc. in appreciation for all their hard work.
TCS Car Wash

Pictured below are high school girls Lola Parks, Lacee Evans and Ava Marshall cleaning the fire truck at the carwash. Funds raised were used to pay for Prom and the upcoming Senior Dinner.
Little Feet Meet

Preschoolers Kole Crockett, Ed Charnock and Judah Parks traveled to Arcadia High School with teacher Mrs. Loni Charnock and assistant Miss. Melissa Parks. They enjoyed a day full of fun activities and good food and even snuck in a quick trip for a Happy Meal.
