The U.S. Coast Guard will perform free courtesy safety examinations for commercial fishing vessels on Tangier Island from September 23-26, 2025. Compliance can enhance safety and avoid penalties. Dockside exams are voluntary and convenient, with boats passing inspection receiving a valid safety decal for two years. Appointments can be made by calling 757-439-8444.
