Tangier Council Approves Budget

The Town of Tangier approved a balanced budget of $1.19 million for fiscal year 2025-2026. It includes revenues and expenses across General Fund operations, Fuel Dock operations, and Water, Sewer, and Trash services. The budget highlights surpluses in the General Fund while showing deficits in Fuel Dock and utility services.

Budget hearing set for July 29

TANGIER – A special town meeting to discuss a draft of the budget will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Sunday School Building. The draft will be presented at the time. The public is welcome to join the discussion as part of the hearing.

Tangier Round-Up: Help from JMU, Film to Make Regional Debut

College students and faculty gathered near trash they collected.

In Tangier, Virginia, the Brigadune Inn welcomed James Madison University Honors Program students who collected debris from local beaches, highlighting the area’s role as a Chesapeake Bay filter. The documentary “Been Here Stay Here,” depicting Tangier’s community and challenges, will screen at two upcoming film festivals, with panel discussions featuring residents and the director.
