Coast Guard to Conduct Safety Exams

TANGIER – The United States Coast Guard will conduct courtesy examinations of commercial fishing vessels Sept. 23-26, 2025, on Tangier Island.

Meeting the agency’s safety requirements can help save lives and may prevent civil penalties.

These voluntary exams are conducted dockside and at the owner’s convenience. They are free and no violations will be issued.

Boats in compliance will be issued a safety decal that is valid for two years.
