Tangier Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Swain Memorial Methodist Church Sunday School building, per Mayor Eskridge and Town Council.
As soon as the meeting’s agenda is available, that’ll be posted.
In other news, Accomack County Schools are closed Thursday due to snow and poor road conditions, so there will be a snow day for all ACPS students and 10-month staff. Exams for middle and high school students will be on Friday and Monday. There will not be a staff development day, and the teacher workday will be Tuesday, January 28. The new semester will begin on Wednesday, January 29. The one missed school day will be added to the calendar at the end of the school year unless the School Board approves taking it from another scheduled day off.
Per Carol Pruitt-Moore, her granddaughter Rahab Carol celebrated an 11th birthday this week. Happy Birthday!
Per Elizabeth Thomas, no boat Thursday — day 3 — though the shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also, there will be Food Bank delivery on Friday due to ice in both creeks.
Speaking of the weather, Thursday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. North wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 29. West wind 7 to 11 mph.
Friday, it’ll be sunny, with a high near 36. North wind 11 to 14 mph.
Friday night, the weather will be partly cloudy, with a low around 26. North wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
