Cold Weather Advisory for Tangier: Stay Safe

Per Somerset County Emergency Management – well … it’ll be a cold one Monday night and into Tuesday — Cold Weather Advisory is in effect between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday for Somerset, Dorchester-Wicomico-Inland Worcester-Maryland Beaches. Though Tangier Island is in Accomack County, the weather probably won’t be much different.

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills as low as 4 above expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE… Accomack, Somerset, Dorchester, Inland Worcester, Maryland Beaches and Wicomico Counties.

* WHEN…From 2 AM to 10 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Cold temperatures and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills as low as 4 above zero. This will result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors…make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Due to the winter storm warning on Monday, January 6, Accomack County Schools had a virtual day for all students and 10 month staff. And things aren’t looking too good for Tuesday either – I’ll update as I get news. Photos come from Teresa Jo Tyler — thx. Folks, if you get snow photos, send them to me.
